Mariner's Compass - 98th Day

Those insides of points of stars are almost done. It has been all Bargello stitches this week. I wish this project is finished next week or at least almost finished. Relatives come to visit me at the end of the month, so there is not very much stitching then. I needed a chair to take this picture, I hope I don't need ladders next time. The project is already quite large and it's getting larger...

Tähtien sisäpuolet ovat melkein tehty. Tällä viikolla on kirjottu Firenzenkirjontaa eli loimukirjontaa todenteolla. Toivon että saan tämän projektin valmiiksi ensi viikolla tai ainakin lähes valmiiksi. Sukulaisia tulee loppukuusta vierailulle, joten silloin ei ole paljoakaan pistelyaikaa. Tarvitsin tuolin ottaakseni tämän kuvan, toivon että seuraavalla kerralla en tarvitse tikapuita. Tämä projekti on jo melko iso ja siitä se vaan laajenee...

Mariner's Compass - 91st Day

Getting bright ideas is not good for stitching speed. I have years and years talked about to organize my stash. I have started it and well...overwhelmed with all that work and all those cardboard boxes, computer files and folders. Let's see how long it takes this time before I'll quit. I have now organized 14 charts. It isn't much yet, but it is beginning, isn't it?
Ok, what comes to my stitchings. Here is the latest one. I have now finished all the points of starts, but not the insides of the points. Next I'm going to stitch bargello rows inside the points of the stars.

Fiksujen ideoiden saaminen ei ole hyväksi pistelunopeudelle. Olen jo vuosia puhunut siitä että pitäisi järjestellä varastot. Olen aloittanut sen ja no, tuota...hukkunut kaiken sen työmäärän ja pahvilaatikoiden, tiedostojen ja kansioiden alle. Katsotaanpa miten kauan tällä kertaa kestää ennenkuin lopetan. Olen nyt järjestellyt 14 mallia. Aika vähän, mutta tämähän on vasta ihan alussa, vai mitä?
Ok, mitä tulee pistelyihini. Tässä on viimeisin. Olen nyt saanut valmiiksi kaikki tähtien sakarat, paitsi en sakaroiden sisäpuolta. Seuraavaksi aion pistellä loimukirjontaa eli Firenzenkirjontaa tähtien sakaroiden sisäpuolelle.

Mariner's Compass - 7th day

Sometimes I think I have bright ideas as choose a dense fabric count to make a piece a bit more challenging. It won't work. This is intermediate, whatever fabric count you choose. This far I have stitched the star with cross-stitches and Rhodes stitches over cross-stitches. I read the instructions wrong, there was supposed to be square Rhodes over 3 threads, but I stitched round Rhodes over 4 threads. Don't tell anyone. Around the star is somewhat psychedelic Bargello rows and around Bargello stitches are a square of Smyrna Cross. My stitching speed is getting slower because the designs is getting bigger and there are much tiny cross-stitches ahead.
Joskus minulla on omasta mielestäni tosi fiksuja ideoita, kuten että valitsemalla tiheämpilankaisen kankaan työstä saisi haastavamman. Ei muuten toimi. Tämä työ on vaikeusasteeltaan keskitasoa, riippumatta kankaan tiheydestä. Tähän asti olen pistelly tähden ja kerrotut timanttipistot sen päälle. Luin ohjeet väärin, tarkoitus oli pistellä pyöreitä kerrottuja timanttipistoja kolmen langan yli, mutta minäpä pistelin neliömäisiä kerrottuja timanttipistoja neljän langan yli. Älä vaan kerro kenellekään. Tähden ympärillä on hieman psykedeeliseltä näyttävää firenzenkirjontaa eli loimukirjontaa ja niiden ympärillä neliö timanttipistoin. Pistelynopeuteni tulee hidastumaan, koska malli suurenee koko ajan ja odotettavissa on pienenpieniä ristipistoja.
